My Story

Dawn is a native Washingtonian who has incrementally worked in the field of End-of-Life care over the past thirty years.

Gradationally, from child to young adulthood, though exposed to both Christian and Muslim religious faiths, upon self-identifying, she chose to follow a path of Inter-Denominational Spirituality.

Fortunate enough to have spent a considerable portion of her youth surrounded by a familial village of seniors, forged through these bonds was a belvedere view of life; thus, accoutered with all its presumed meaning.

Wisdom garnered from the stories of her Elders, along with the delighted satisfaction derived from participating in events catered toward the wellbeing of those in need, were defining moments in her molding the decision to work in the service of End-of Life care.

Howbeit, such is always the matter, as she grew older, life, and its myriad of lessons and demands, seemed to get in the way.

As such, though she directly worked in a profession of Community Service, and despite maintaining regular endeavors to serve in the vocation of End-of-Life care, her plans of starting an End-of-Life Doula service had been temporarily sidelined.

During the time of actively working in her appointed career, Dawn suffered a devastating loss. Intrinsically, by the very nature of such a personal crisis, she called upon her Ancestors, her Elders, and All That Is, to help her navigate this situation that proved to be both brutal and distressing alike.

Throughout the process of mourning this tragic loss, and whilst grappling with the effects of its overall trauma, undeniably, she discovered that this very harsh and unwelcomed occurrence was the precipice that catapulted her into acknowledging and embarking upon a journey of soul searching.

Amid this formation of Post Traumatic Growth, the enlightenment that accompanied the process of seeking divine knowledge is the tool that lent itself to Dawn grasping the ability to discern the beauty of life, to understand the necessity of surrender, and to recognize the power of the Light.

It was in the profound anguish of grief that she rediscovered her deep-rooted beliefs, she re-engaged what she knew to be her intended path, and she welcomed the idea of living her life’s purpose.

To this enlightenment, Dusk to Dawn End of Life Doula Services was borne.
